England has gone 'barking mad'

The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) recently warned people to check the credentials of cosmetic surgery service providers. He specifically mentioned people who seek treatment for wrinkles and other treatments that use Botox or fillers that change the shape of the body.

In the UK it is not illegal for people to give injections, and many weekend and four hours courses on the use of Botox can be found without any trouble. That's why he states that the UK has gone 'barking mad'.

As new techniques were presented to the association's members at its annual scientific meeting in London on Thursday, consultant plastic surgeon and outgoing president Nigel Mercer said patients should be armed with information about the surgeon treating them and risks associated with procedures.

He warned that while Botox may be a safe product, misuse and injecting the incorrect amount, or, in the wrong place, could cause paralysis.
