Introduction to Cosmetic plastic surgery

Plastic surgery is a surgical procedure that is performed to improve or enhance the appearance of a person. The term plastic was derived from the Greek word "Plastikos" which signifies 'to mould or to sculpt'. There are two main types of plastic surgery procedures. The first type is called the reconstructive plastic surgery which is used to reconstruct or restructure the body parts that have been damaged due to trauma, disease or due to birth defects or deformities. The second type is the cosmetic plastic surgery which is mainly used to enhance the physical appearance of a normal body part.

Cosmetic plastic surgery is usually performed to make a person look younger and attractive. It improves the self esteem of a person. Some of the commonly practiced cosmetic plastic surgery procedures are Brow lifts, Eyelid surgery, Face lifts, Neck lifts, Cheek augmentation, Chin augmentation, Nose job or Rhinoplasty, Liposuction, tummy tucks, Breast implant surgery and spider vein removal surgery.
